With less than 300 permanent residents in the small village of Lockton, the unusually high percentage of creative and artistic people living and working here came together In February 2016 to form a group known as “Lockton Artists”.
Nestled on the edge of the North York Moors, close to the Hole of Horcum, the small rural village of Lockton has now become home to a thriving creative community.
There is already a history of artists in Lockton and many of the artists today continue to draw inspiration from the beautiful moorland countryside and dramatic scenery that surrounds this idyllic village within the National Park.
Currently, among the ten members of the group, you will discover painters, textile designers, printmakers, ceramic artists, blacksmiths, mixed media artists & silversmiths.
